In the end of August 2009 I began yet another jur­ney. I began a Mas­ter in Engi­neer­ing focus­ing on Tech­nol­gy­based busi­ness­de­vel­op­ment at the Uni­ver­sity of Aarhus in Hern­ing (Insti­tute of Busi­ness and Tech­nol­ogy). Thereby I add another layer on my edu­ca­tional cur­ricu­lum. My inter­est has for a long time been on mar­ket­ing and with this edu­ca­tion I can com­bine my marketing-knowledge with a deeper under­stand­ing of dirrent tech­nolo­gies and the man­age­ment of theese.

My cur­rent pro­gramme is esti­mated to four semes­ters, each one of them with a dif­fer­ent theme. Along­side the lec­tures I have to be at a men­tor­com­pany two-three days a week. The art is the to turn the the­o­ret­i­cal tools into prac­tics dur­ing the internship.

Dur­ing the first semes­ter (Q3 — 2009), I’ll learn meth­ods to iden­tify new tech­nolo­gies out­side the com­pany and to assess the rel­e­vance of these tech­nolo­gies to the com­pany. We develop an abil­ity to under­stand many dif­fer­ent tech­nolo­gies and hereby employ them in the men­tor­cop­many. We learn how to acquire an insight in most engi­neer­ing tech­ni­cal areas and hereby develop an abil­ity to cre­ate tech­no­log­i­cal input for the com­pany through net­works. Fur­ther­more we are intro­duced to knowl­edge man­ag­ment in order to pass on the knowl­edge to the company.

At the sec­ond semes­ter (Q1 — 2010), I’ll learn how to iden­tify employee qual­i­fi­ca­tions at group level in order to pro­mote tech­no­log­i­cal  and busi­ness inno­va­tion. I’ll learn about orga­ni­za­tional devel­op­ment, hereby how to iden­tify and change the com­pany cul­ture, so that the organ­i­sa­tion becomes more mar­ke­to­ri­ented. This adress the issue of con­tin­u­ous gen­er­a­tion and imple­men­ta­tion of new ini­tia­tives which improves the company’s mar­ket position.

I have already “passed” my third semes­ter (Q3 2008 — Q2 2009) due to my one-year inter­na­tional mas­ter from Kalmar Uni­ver­sity in Swe­den. I was cred­ited for my pro­gramme in inno­va­tion and inter­na­tional marketing.

Dur­ing my fourth semes­ter (Q3 2010) I have to write a mas­ter the­sis for my men­tor com­pany. I will focus on inno­v­a­tive tools and pro­ce­dures in order to shape my pro­file as a change-agent.
